Officials with Hopkins County Schools have announced the Hopkins County Career and Technology Center is receiving a $60,000 donation from the GE Aerospace Foundation to provide more workforce training opportunities in our area.

School officials said the donation announced on Monday will enhance the new Machine Tool career pathway program, which started this year. They said it would fund additional equipment, tooling, and curriculum, as well as cover the cost of industry certification exams for students. According to officials, this contribution aims to strengthen the region’s manufacturing workforce by equipping students with the skills required by local industries

In a written statement, Principal Pamela Todd of the Hopkins County Career and Technology Center expressed that this support will allow them to expand their Machine Tool program, providing students with the latest technology and hands-on training, better preparing them for high-demand careers in manufacturing and engineering. She emphasized that this investment is not only in their program but also in the future of their students and the community.

School officials have stated that the Board of Education has also provided funding for equipment and electrical upgrades. They expressed excitement about the future opportunities for students and pride in this remarkable partnership.

They also expressed their deep gratitude to the GE Aerospace Foundation for the donation and acknowledged their appreciation for the school’s community partners.
