A Madisonville man is facing charges after a reported sexual assault in Hopkins County.
A Madisonville Police Department arrest citation says officers responded to Baptist Health Deaconess Madisonville shortly before 2:45 Wednesday morning after a woman reported she had been sexually assaulted at a residence.
Police say the woman told investigators she withdrew consent, but the suspect restrained her, choked her, and sexually assaulted her. She told officers she was able to leave the home after the man fell asleep. Officers said they saw visible bruising on her arm during the interview.
According to police, the suspect later admitted during a non-custodial phone interview that he had sexual intercourse with a woman on Tuesday. Police say he declined to speak with detectives during a custodial interview.
The man was arrested and charged with first-degree rape and first-degree strangulation. He was lodged in the Hopkins County Jail.
