Early turnout was strong in Hopkins County as hundreds of voters made use of no-excuse in-person voting ahead of Tuesday’s primary election.
Hopkins County Clerk Keenan Cloern tells WFMW’s News Edge that from Thursday through Saturday, 791 registered voters cast their ballots at the Ballard Convention Center at the Hopkins County Fairgrounds.
According to the Hopkins County Clerk’s Office, there are 32,733 registered voters in the county. Of these, 29,517 are eligible to cast ballots in the upcoming primary as members of the two major parties. The county has 15,353 registered Republicans and 14,164 registered Democrats.
In case you missed our story last week, Hopkins County Deputy Clerk Jenny Menser reported that 15 locations in the county will be available for any registered voter to cast their ballot on Primary Election Day, Tuesday.
