Drivers in Hopkins County should prepare for travel delays this week as the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has announced temporary road closures to accommodate the move of oversized equipment.

Starting Monday, a contractor for the Kentucky Municipal Energy Agency will block portions of two state highways daily from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. through Thursday.

The closures will affect KY 70 between the railroad depot and Pleasant View Road, as well as a section of KY 1302.

Officials say KY 70 should reopen within 45 minutes each day, with the entire move wrapping up in about two hours.

The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office will be on-site to control traffic. Drivers are urged to find alternate routes and use extra caution in the area Monday through Thursday.
