The Hopkins County Humane Society will begin accepting applications for its new “Partners for Paws” spay and neuter voucher program starting Friday, May 15th.
The program is funded by the Hopkins County Fiscal Court and matching funds from the Humane Society Board, with $10,000 allocated to help local pet owners reduce costs.
Applicants must be Hopkins County residents, the legal owner of the animal, and at least 18 years old. Only one voucher is allowed per household. A valid photo ID is required, and participation is not guaranteed. Additional veterinary fees may apply and must be paid directly to the vet.
Pet owners must bring their animals at the time of application. Dogs must be on non-retractable leashes, and cats must be in a secure carrier. Feral or aggressive animals are not accepted. All pets will be microchipped unless already done.
Vouchers cost $50 for dogs and $25 for cats, payable by cash or card at pickup. Officials say this initiative aims to reduce pet overpopulation and improve animal welfare in Hopkins County.
The “Partners for Paws” event is set for Friday from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Madisonville Lions Club on Hospital Drive. Organizers say no appointment is necessary, but noted that no surgeries will be performed at this time. Instead, they say the event will focus on providing vouchers and microchips for pets. When you arrive, you’ll be asked to leave your pet safely in your vehicle, come inside to complete the required paperwork, and then the staff will direct you through the next steps.
