A Nortonville man was arrested after police say he flooded emergency lines by making false reports Friday afternoon.

Madisonville police responded to the James Madison Inn shortly after 1:00 p.m. following a 9-1-1 call claiming a kidnapping was in progress. Police say when officers arrived on the scene, they determined the report was false.

Investigators say the caller, 22-year-old David Bryant, continued to call 911 fifteen more times over the next hour and a half to report various other disturbances. Police say each of those claims was also found to be false.

According to police, dispatchers were still on the line with Bryant when officers made contact with him outside his hotel room at the James Madison Inn. After consulting with the County Attorney’s Office, police say Bryant was taken into custody and charged with false report of an incident to law enforcement and harassing communications.

Bryant was booked into the Hopkins County Jail.
