Prep work begins Monday for a multi-week paving project that will resurface about 6 miles of state roadway across Hopkins County.
Officials with the Kentucky Transportation say the project covers resurfacing Kentucky Highway 112 from U.S. 62 in Ilsley to Daylight Road, and from Loch Mary to U.S. 41, as well as Kentucky Highway 813 from Morton Lane to U.S. 41. They indicate most of Kentucky Highway 112 between Loch Mary and Daylight Road was paved only a few years ago.
A second crew is scheduled to begin work on Tuesday at the other end of Kentucky Highway 112. State transportaton officials say they’ll be replacing a cross drain near the Interstate 69 overpass, which will require a temporary closure of the highway from U.S. 62 to Ilsley Spur Lane.
Once the sidewalk repairs in Earlington are finished, officials say crews will move on to Mortons Gap to continue similar work.
Motorists are asked to stay alert for signs and workers throughout these work zones.
