Drivers in Madisonville are adjusting to a new traffic pattern on U.S. 41A, which started Tuesday afternoon as crews continue work on the widening project.
Kentucky Transportation Cabinet officials say all traffic on U.S 41A will be shifted to one lane to the south between Yorkwood Place and Pee-Wee Lake Road. They say the shift is necessary to allow contractors to begin construction of the connection between the current configuration of U.S. 41A and the new lanes that are currently under construction.
According to state officials, drivers should expect this lane shift to remain in place until later this summer, when traffic will move permanently onto the new roadway. The entire project is slated for completion by the end of this year.
