A National Weather Service survey team has confirmed that an EF-0 tornado impacted locations near Ashbyburg and Jewel City in far northern Hopkins County and far western Webster County late Monday night.

The preliminary survey results show the tornado reached peak winds of 85 miles per hour and stayed on the ground from 11:56 to 11:59 p.m. Its path stretched just over three miles long and about 50 yards wide.

The survey found that the storm uprooted and snapped trees, downed numerous tree limbs, and damaged electrical transmission lines as it passed through the area.

There were no injuries or fatalities reported.
