A woman is facing an assault charge after a confrontation with staff at the Madisonville hospital on Monday afternoon.

Madisonville Police say officers responded to Baptist Health Deaconess for an assault report around 12:45 p.m., where 46-year-old Tyra Moore of Dallas, Texas, reportedly made suicidal statements and complained of wrist pain before attempting to flee the hospital’s psychiatric ward.

Authorities say Moore became combative when staff intervened, allegedly grabbing a computer monitor and trying to throw it. When security officers confronted her, police say Moore kicked both of them, causing minor injuries.

After Moore was subdued with help from hospital staff and given medication, police say she was placed in restraints.

After police reviewed surveillance footage and gathered witness statements, Moore was taken into custody and charged with third-degree assault of a healthcare provider. She was then taken to the Hopkins County Jail, where officials say she continued to threaten staff members.
