A new group of recruits has begun the rigorous training required to become certified law enforcement officers in Kentucky.

According to authorities, 24 men and women began their journey to becoming certified peace officers in Kentucky, walking through the doors of the Department of Criminal Justice Training Western Campus in Madisonville on Sunday. The recruits, making up Basic Training Class 571, have entered an intensive program focused on building the skills and upholding the standards required of law enforcement officers across Kentucky.

Over the coming weeks, the recruits will undergo structured training, accountability, and preparation. Instructors say the process builds professional law enforcement officers not by chance, but through development and determination within the academy.

Officials say professional law enforcement is developed through daily training and commitment within the academy.
