A Madisonville man is facing multiple charges, including strangulation and wanton endangerment, after a domestic dispute Friday afternoon.

The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called to the Deaconess Baptist Health Emergency Room shortly before 2:00 p.m. They said a woman stated she was assaulted by her husband, 51-year-old Victor Tellis, following an argument over a broken television.

Deputies say the victim suffered visible injuries and reported that Tellis grabbed her by the hair, struck her head on the ground, and strangled her until she lost consciousness. When she woke, deputies said the victim said Tellis was threatening her with a handgun.

Authorities say they later found Tellis in a fast-food drive-thru, where he admitted to having two loaded handguns and alcohol in his vehicle.

Tellis was taken into custody and charged with assault, strangulation, unlawful imprisonment, wanton endangerment, terroristic threatening, and possession of an open alcohol container in a vehicle. He was lodged in the Hopkins County Jail.
