

A Webster County home was destroyed in a weekend fire, with crews from several fire departments called in to help battle the blaze.
According to the Clay Fire Rescue, firefighters responded to a house fire on Short Street in Clay around 9:50 Saturday morning. When firefighters arrived, they found the home engulfed in flames and immediately began working to put out the fire.
Fire crews from Dixon, Wheatcroft, Sturgis, Sullivan, and Nebo assisted at the scene, with additional support from Deaconess EMS, Webster County 911, and Kentucky Utilities. Officials say firefighters remained on the scene for seven hours.
Authorities said they believe the fire started in the basement and quickly spread throughout the home.
Fire officials reported the house was deemed a total loss.
There were no injuries reported.
