United Way of the Coalfield Seeks Office Space in Government Center

The Hopkins County Fiscal Court will consider a request from United Way of the Coalfield to utilize space within the Government Center.

At last week’s Fiscal Court meeting, United Way of the Coalfield Executive Director Ashley Alexander said the nonprofit is looking to move into the space that once housed the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office.

click to download audioJudge-Executive Jack Whitfield raised concerns about the basement’s condition and cleanup plans, to which Alexander replied that local students would help with the effort.

click to download audioWhitfield said he wanted to present the proposal to magistrates before moving forward, while District 6 Magistrate Charlie Beshears asked whether there would be any fees if the United Way moved into the space.
