A Madisonville man has been charged with assault after a verbal dispute ended with another man injured after reportedly being shot with an air pistol.
Madisonville Police say officers responded to an assault near South Madisonville Avenue and West Lake Street just after 2:30 Wednesday afternoon, where the victim stated he had been involved in a verbal argument over a pool stick with 47-year-old Michael Wester.
According to police, the victim reported that Wester swung at him, and as he was leaving, Wester grabbed a CO2-powered air pistol and fired several shots, hitting him in the back, arm, and shoulder.
Authorities say Wester admitted to firing the air pistol after the dispute. Police say that based on witness statements and visible injuries on the victim, Wester was taken into custody, while the victim was taken to the hospital for evaluation and treatment.
Wester was charged with second-degree assault and lodged in the Hopkins County Jail.
