Two local men have been arrested in connection with the theft of an electric bicycle.

Madisonville Police say officers spotted 33-year-old Kalen Harris of Nortonville on North Scott Street near Couch Street shortly before 1:30 a.m Tuesday, with a suspected stolen electric bicycle.

According to officers, Harris admitted to taking the bike from someone else because he knew that individual had stolen it and wouldn’t report the theft to police.

Police say the stolen bicycle is valued at approximately $1,000 by its owner.

Harris was taken into custody and charged with receiving stolen property over $1,000 but less than $10,000.

During the investigation, authorities say 28-year-old James Majors of Madisonville was identified as the suspect in the theft of the electric bicycle from Lowe’s around 4:30 p.m. Monday.

Police say Majors was located in the 400 block of South Madisonville Avenue around 2.45 a.m. Tuesday and taken into custody.

He was charged with theft by unlawful taking over $1,000 but less than $10,000.

Both men were lodged in the Hopkins County Jail.
