A Madisonville man was arrested after a late-night domestic disturbance on Oates Street on Thursday.
Madisonville Police responded to a domestic violence call just before 11:00 p.m and found the victim and 30-year-old Austin Moore outside a nearby home. Officers say Moore appeared intoxicated and admitted he had been drinking before the incident.
According to police, the victim reported that Moore acted aggressively, gave her a bottle of whiskey, then suddenly grabbed her arm and choked her until she could not breathe, prompting her to seek help at a neighbor’s home and call police.
Moore was taken into custody and charged with first-degree strangulation and intoxication in a public place. He was booked into the Hopkins County Jail.
