After the director of the Hopkins County Humane Society was honored with a statewide award last week, the organization is getting ready for its Spawghetti Dinner Fundraiser to help raise money for a new shelter.
Melissa Taylor of the Hopkins County Humane Society Board shared that Director Dustin Potenza received an award at the Animal Welfare Summit held this past Friday in Frankfort.

Potenza explains that they need to raise approximately $1 million toward the estimated $2.2 million cost of the new shelter, which will be constructed on Laffoon Trail at the site of the former facility damaged by a tornado nearly a year ago.

Potenza and Taylor also discussed the upcoming Run for Paws fundraiser, the Humane Society’s largest annual event set for June, while sharing updates on plans for the new facility on Laffoon Trail, with more information to be shared by WFMW’s News Edge in the coming days.
