A Madisonville man and woman are facing drug trafficking charges after police attempted to locate a wanted fugitive.
Just before 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 21st, Madisonville Police responded to a residence at Pride Place Apartments to locate a wanted fugitive from Hopkins County. Officers report that upon arrival, 43-year-old Kimberly Thompson answered the door. Police said she was identified as the wanted fugitive, and officers then accompanied her inside the residence, allowing her to gather some of her personal belongings.
Once inside the apartment, police reportedly saw drug paraphernalia in plain view and encountered 37-year-old Jessie Hibbs. Both Thompson and Hibbs were held at the scene as officers secured a search warrant.
After the warrant was served, officers reportedly found multiple meth pipes and baggies containing a white substance believed to be meth. Police stated that Hibbs was found with additional suspected meth, marijuana roaches kept in a baggie, and a bundle of cash rolled with a rubber band, which authorities noted is commonly associated with drug trafficking. According to the police, both Thompson and Hibbs denied ownership of any of the seized items.
Thompson and Hibbs were taken into custody and charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and trafficking meth. Thompson was also served with a Hopkins County Complaint Warrant for second-degree criminal abuse of a child under the age of 12. Both subjects were lodged in the Hopkins County Jail.
