A Central City man faces multiple charges after a traffic stop in Madisonville on Friday led to the discovery of drugs and revealed a suspended license due to prior DUI offenses.
Madisonville Police report that 56-year-old Derrick Stanley was pulled over just before 4:30 p.m. after he was observed on East Arch Street not wearing his seat belt. During the traffic stop, officers noted that Stanley appeared impaired, with slurred speech and difficulty focusing. They also reported the smell of burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle.
After Stanley exited the car, police said a marijuana roach fell from his pocket. During a subsequent search, officers found a glass pipe with suspected meth residue along with a small quantity of marijuana. Police also learned Stanley’s license was suspended for prior DUI offenses.
Stanley was taken into custody and charged with failure to wear seat belts, driving on a DUI suspended license, 3rd offense, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, and operating a motor vehicle under the influence, 4th or greater offense. He was booked into the Hopkins County Jail.
