A man was arrested Wednesday morning on East Arch Street after a traffic stop led to the discovery of a handgun.

Madisonville Police say 47-year-old Casey Delmoro was pulled over shortly after 11:00 a.m. for not wearing a seat belt. During the stop, officers said they learned that Delmoro had a non-extraditable warrant from South Carolina for a weapon offense, and records indicated he could be armed and dangerous.

According to police, during a consented search of Delmoro’s vehicle, he informed officers there was a handgun in the glove box, and admitted he was a felon. Officers then reportedly found a 9 mm Ruger handgun and a loaded magazine inside a holster in the glove box.

Police report that a criminal history check confirmed Delmoro is a convicted felon from South Carolina.

He was taken into custody and charged with failure to wear a seat belt and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon. He was booked into the Hopkins County Jail.
