The Hopkins County Humane Society will open its temporary facility on Wednesday, February 18th, at 9:00 a.m. The temporary facility is located at 319 Dulin Street in Madisonville.
Humane Society staff have a few important reminders for the community. All intakes must be scheduled in advance due to space constraints. Once the facility reaches capacity, no additional animals can be accepted until space becomes available again.
While many of the same services will continue to be offered, operations are now more limited. Officials emphasize that their goal is to assist the community as much as possible, despite the current space limitations.
The Humane Society will continue operating from the temporary facility until construction of the new shelter is complete. Executive Director Dustin Potenza says the temporary shelter will remain in use even after the organization moves into the new building.
The new shelter will be built on the site of the original facility on Laffoon Trail, which was forced to close after sustaining major tornado damage on April 2nd.
The new phone number for the Hopkins County Humane Society temporary shelter is 270-245-2095.
