Trevor Camplin/Hopkins County Jail mugshot
A traffic stop on Interstate 69 in Madisonville on Wednesday morning led to the arrest of two people on outstanding warrants and the discovery of a stash of suspected synthetic drugs.
Shortly after 8:15 a.m. Wednesday, Madisonville Police say officers stopped a northbound vehicle on I-69 with excessively dark window tint after the driver, 26-year-old Leanndra Reed of Madisonville, made a careless lane change and nearly side-swiped another vehicle.
Police say the traffic stop revealed that both Reed and her passenger, 26-year-old Trevor Camplin, had active arrest warrants. Officers also reportedly found a package of rolling papers in Camplin’s pants pocket.
During an open-air search, police say a K9 alerted on the vehicle, and officers found a large bag of suspected synthetic drugs under Camplin’s seat, as well as a rolled suspected synthetic joint in a dash pocket.
According to police, Reed had removed the bag of suspected synthetic drugs from Camplin’s hoodie during the stop and placed it under his seat.
Both Reed and Camplin were taken into custody. Camplin was charged with trafficking in synthetic drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also served a Christian County District Court warrant for non-payment of court costs, fees or fines. Reed was served two bench warrants for failure to appear in Hopkins County and Christian County.
Camplin and Reed were lodged in the Hopkins County Jail.
