Hopkins County Teen Charged with DUI, Fleeing and Drug Possession

A Hopkins County teenager was arrested after police say he crashed into several parked cars over the weekend and then fled the scene.

Madisonville police say they received a call shortly after 12:30 a.m. Saturday, a truck struck and damaged three parked cars on South Madison Avenue. Witnesses told officers the driver ran from the scene and was described as a young white man with longer hair, wearing jeans, but without a shirt or shoes.

During a search of the truck, officers said they found an open bottle of tequila and a baggie of suspected synthetic marijuana in the passenger floorboard, and a small baggie of suspected marijuana inside the center console.

According to police, the driver, 19-year-old Avery Dunn of Nortonville, was later found behind a home on Hall Street and arrested as he tried to enter a vacant shed

Dunn faces charges of driving under the influence, second-degree criminal mischief, possession of marijuana, leaving the scene of an accident without providing assistance, possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle, third-degree fleeing or evading police, and possession of synthetic drugs. He was booked into the Hopkins County Jail.
