Madisonville Community College will receive $2 million in federal funding to support its rapidly growing aviation program.

The funding was secured by U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell as part of Fiscal Year 2026 federal appropriations for education and health-related agencies.

According to the release, the funds will be used to purchase propeller planes and helicopters for student training, significantly expanding hands-on learning opportunities for students preparing for aviation careers.

Senator McConnell said the investment will provide much-needed equipment for the program, calling Madisonville’s aviation initiative an example of the innovative training programs helping Kentucky’s post-secondary institutions succeed.

Madisonville Community College President and CEO Dr. Cynthia S. Kelley said the funding reflects a strong partnership with Senator McConnell and will strengthen workforce education. She noted the investment will help keep training affordable while expanding access to in-demand aviation careers for students across the region.

The funding is part of a broader federal appropriations package that has passed the U.S. Senate and now heads to the President for final approval.
