Residents in parts of Providence and Diamond are being urged to take extra precautions with their tap water after a water main break has led to a boil water advisory for several neighborhoods.

Officials with the City of Providence have announced a boil water advisory is in effect for customers on Gulf Street and all areas west of Gulf Street, including Diamond.

This comes after the Webster County Water District issued its own precautionary boil water advisory on Sunday, which remains in place for all customers following a county-wide water system outage caused by extreme cold on Saturday.

By Monday, officials confirmed that water service had been restored throughout the district and said a boil water advisory would be in effect for several days until laboratory test results confirm the water’s safety.

All water used for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, or washing dishes should be boiled for at least one minute.
