A Boil Water Advisory is in effect for Webster County Water District customers following a system-wide outage caused by extreme cold over the weekend.

Webster County Water District officials reported the system-wide outage on social media Saturday morning, letting customers know that crews were working to restore service quickly and safely, with water expected back by Saturday evening. They advised customers to turn off the electric power or close the gas valve on water heaters to prevent damage, and to make sure all faucets were shut off before water pressure returns to avoid any problems.

On Saturday evening, Water District officials announced the water treatment plant was back online and water was being reintroduced into the system. They noted that some customers might receive water sooner than others as crews carefully balanced and monitored the system with help from neighboring professionals. Officials also urged customers to use water sparingly, as high demand in restored areas meant some parts of the county remained without service.

On Sunday, officials reported that they were increasing water pressure, specifically, in the Vanderburg and Dixon zones. They said water service was being restored on Sebree Pratt Road, Highway 283, Poole, and extending to the Union County line toward Morganfield, as well as Wheatcroft, Blackford, the west side of Clay, and the west side of Providence near Riden Road.

The Boil Water Advisory remains in place for all Webster County Water District customers until further notice.
