Pair Arrested in Madisonville for Growing and Trafficking Marijuana

A shoplifting complaint led to the arrest of a Madisonville man and woman on drug trafficking charges on Wednesday.

According to Madisonville Police, an officer responded to a shoplifting report at the Beer, Wine, and Liquor Outlet on West Center Street. Police said the surveillance showed Daniel Ipock stealing a bottle of bourbon and putting it in his pocket days earlier.

Police said that an officer went to Ipock’s home on Mitchell Drive to follow up on a shoplifting complaint. When Ipock opened the door, the officer reportedly smelled burnt marijuana.

After obtaining a search warrant, officers and detectives from the VICE/Narcotics task force reported they found equipment used for cultivating marijuana in the basement, approximately 17 marijuana plants, and a large quantity of loose marijuana buds. In addition, the officer said they found a digital scale, several firearms, drug paraphernalia, and a significant amount of cash.

In addition, authorities reportedly found a large amount of Lortab pills in a bottle with no label scattered throughout the home.

Police said 46-year-old Daniel Ipock and 29-year-old Jordan Ipock were both taken into custody and charged with cultivating marijuana -firearm enhanced, trafficking marijuana – firearm enhanced, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance – firearm enhanced, presciption not in a proper container, possession of drug paraphernalia, and using restricted ammunition during a felony, no shots fired.

Police also gave Daniel Ipock a citation for shoplifting.

They were lodged in the Hopkins County Jail.
