After additional speakers and award presentations, Alexander shared the United Way of the Coalfield’s 2026 Plan, including the importance of fundraising to continue supporting the counties they serve.

The plan features a focus on early childhood development and education, including a partnership with the YMCA in Hopkins County for a childcare project, and the creation of Born Learning Walking Trails in each county—made possible by a United Way Worldwide grant.

This year, the nonprofit is prioritizing community resilience, as the Board works with county committees to gather feedback and address local needs.

The plan also includes continuing to support communities during disasters.
