Several additional candidates entered the races for Hopkins County seats and the City of Madisonville ahead of Friday’s filing deadline for the 2026 Primary Election.
Thomas Crabtree filed his paperwork on Thursday, Jan. 8th, to run as a Democrat for surveyor, and is unopposed.
On Friday, Jan. 9th, Jacob Byron Adams filed to run in the nonpartisan race for mayor and will challenge incumbent Mayor Kevin Cotton for the seat.
David Riley filed on Friday, Jan. 9th, as a Republican for the District 3 magistrate seat and faces candidates Tim Riggs and David Riley in the Republican primary. Incumbent Vickie Dickerson Thomison is unopposed in the Democratic primary for the District 3 magistrate seat.
Devi Thorp filed on Friday, Jan. 9th, to run for the nonpartisan Ward 6 seat on the Madisonville City Council. Thorp will face Ricky “Rik” Woosby and Kim McMurtrie Jones, who both filed for the seat last week.
John Dunning filed on Friday, Jan. 9th, and will challenge incumbent Misty Lee Cavanaugh for the Ward 1 seat on Madsonville City Council.
