A welfare check led to the arrest of a convicted sex offender in Madisonville over the weekend for failing to comply with Kentucky’s sex offender registry requirements.

Madisonville Police report the aunt of 44-year-old John Allard requested the welfare check, who explained that her nephew is required to live at a Lear’s Beaver Creek Drive address to comply with his sex offender registration.

The woman reportedly told officers that Allard had moved out six weeks earlier and was staying with his girlfriend on Whiltshire Drive, but she was unable to provide the exact apartment number.

Officers said they found Allard in the 2200 block of Laffoon Trail shortly before 8:00 Saturday morning, and he was taken into custody on a charge of failure to comply with the sex offender registration, first offense.

He was booked into the Hopkins County Jail.
