The Hopkins County Board of Education honored Ben Prevette, agriculture teacher at Hopkins County Central High School, with the Great Futures Award during Monday night’s meeting. School officials praised Prevette for his outstanding student-centered impact, innovation and creativity, leadership and collaboration, service and dedication, as well as his strong family and community engagement.
According to officials, Prevette consistently goes above and beyond for both students and staff at Hopkins County Central High School. In recent years, they said the school’s agriculture program has seen remarkable growth—what began with growing corn at the high school has expanded to include miniature greenhouses at elementary schools, watermelon served during lunch across Hopkins County Schools, and the launch of a cattle farm program that will eventually supply beef for the district.
Officials noted that Prevette has also collaborated closely with Hopkins County Schools’ Food Service and local farmers to ensure students receive high-quality, student-grown food in school cafeterias.
