A local woman was arrested Friday night after deputies responded to a false hostage report at an Earlington restaurant.

According to the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office, around 9:30 p.m. on Friday, December 12, deputies responded to a 911 call traced to Holler’s at 204 South Lee Trover Todd Jr. in Earlington, where a caller claimed someone was being held hostage.

Deputies said the business owner said the report was false and identified the caller as 39-year-old Cheryl Brewer, who had just left because she was refused alcohol.

Deputies said Brewer was later located in the parking lot of Ideal and appeared intoxicated, and after denying being at Holler’s, she eventually admitted she had been there and left upset.

Deputies said that, after recovering Brewer’s phone, they determined she knowingly made a false report, resulting in an unnecessary emergency response.

Brewer was taken into custody and charged with public intoxication and making a false report, which generated an emergency response, a Class D Felony. She was lodged in the Hopkins County Jail.
