Cody Ellison/Hopkins County Jail mugshot
A Madisonville man was arrested after police say two young children in his home tested positive for fentanyl following a probation violation investigation on White Tail Court.
Madisonville Police say around 9:45 a.m. Tuesday officers assisted Probation and Parole at a residence on White Tail Court, where 26-year-old Cody Ellison had violated his probation with a positive fentanyl test.
Officers reported finding aluminum foil wrappers with burnt residue in Ellison’s bedroom, inside a small plastic drawer filled with children’s clothing, and in a Halloween bucket—all within reach of a small child.
Police said two small children, ages 3 and 4, were in the home at the time of the incident, and the Department of Community-Based Services was called to the scene for placement of the two children.
After placement was determined, police said the children were drug tested at Baptist Health Deaconess Madisonville and tested positive for fentanyl. They were then transported to an Evansville-area hospital for further observation.
Ellison was taken into custody and charged with first-degree wanton endangerment. He was lodged in the Hopkins County Jail.
