Governor Andy Beshear announced Wednesday that $4 million has been allocated to support water service improvement projects in three counties, including McLean County.

The funding is provided through Team Kentucky’s Community Development Block Grant program.

Gov. Beshear committed $1.25 million to the McLean County Fiscal Court to support the construction of a new water storage tank and more than 5,000 feet of waterline, connecting the new tank to the county’s water system. The tank will hold 250,000 gallons, ensuring an adequate water supply for the community.

According to Gov. Beshear, this project will improve water service for 591 households.

In a written statement, McLean County Judge/Executive Curtis Dame said this news is very welcome the day before Thanksgiving. He noted that the ability to have access to a dependable water supply is a basic need of all of their citizens, one that the McLean County Fiscal Court continues to strengthen through cooperative efforts.

Other projects include $1.5 million for expanding the water treatment plant in Powell County and $1.25 million to replace more than 17,000 feet of waterlines in the city of Hustonville in Lincoln County
