The Madisonville City Council received some positive news regarding Mahr Park Arboretum at this week’s meeting.
Supervisor Ashley Robinson announced that they received final approval for the trail expansion project.
click to download audioThe Phase III expansion will add 0.65 miles of new connected trail, enhancing safety and accessibility while providing more outdoor opportunities for walkers, runners, families, and nature enthusiasts.
During her report, Robinson reported that Mahr Park’s average traffic count exceeds 622,000 visitors.
click to download audioShe went on to say that the trail counter has recorded 45,000 visitors on the trail so far this year. In addition, Barn A and Barn B are hosting a combined total of 135 events from January through December of this year, with bookings already scheduled as far out as 2027.
Robinson also mentioned that Mahr Park has hosted 20 educational guided events this year, not including their volunteer program.
This season, she reported that the park has averaged 300 rentals for kayaks, bikes, and pedal boats.
Regarding recent projects, Robinson noted that an additional parking lot has just been completed near the nature play area.
