Gas prices in West Central Kentucky rose eight cents this week to an average of $2.62 per gallon, according to AAA East Central’s Gas Price Report.
Prices remain close to what they were a year ago, when drivers paid about $2.63 per gallon.
Across the region, prices vary slightly — Bowling Green at $2.62, Elizabethtown at $2.52, Owensboro at $2.55, and Paducah at $2.63.
Nationally, the average price for a gallon of regular gas dropped two cents this week to $3.03, as crude oil prices remain low due to strong supply and weaker demand. U.S. crude inventories fell by nearly 7 million barrels last week, according to the Energy Information Administration.
Kentucky drivers are still paying some of the lowest prices in the country — the state ranks among the 10 least expensive markets for gasoline, with Texas and Oklahoma leading at $2.59 per gallon.
