Governor Andy Beshear Friday praised the rulings of two federal judges, ordering the Trump Administration to pay out contingency funds and extend SNAP benefits through the government shutdown.
Nearly 600,000 Kentuckians, he said, rely on the program. And to help families in the meantime, he declared a state of emergency and directed $5 million from Kentucky’s budget reserve to Feeding Kentucky food banks.
Beshear said his faith calls him to “feed and care for each other,” and that Kentucky will continue doing everything possible to support families through the shutdown.
Kentuckians can continue using current SNAP benefits and are encouraged to check the DCBS website for updates.
