The Madisonville Fire Department put out a fire involving discarded furniture found behind a dumpster at an apartment complex over the weekend.
Fire officials said crews were dispatched to Doe Run Apartments at 924 North Kentucky Avenue shortly after 8:30 p.m. Saturday for a fire in the parking lot behind a dumpster. When firefighters arrived, they reportedly found what appeared to be a couch and mattress burning and quickly extinguished the flames. Afterward, the crew soaked the area with water and foam to prevent the fire from rekindling.
Once the area was deemed safe, all fire units cleared the scene.
