Princeton Police Investigate Beverly Lane Shooting

The Princeton Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred early Thursday morning.

Princeton Police say the shooting occurred in the 300 block of Beverly Lane around 2:40 Thursday morning. Officers were dispatched to a report of shots fired with one person injured.

Police Chief Chris King identified the victim as 34-year-old Jerrod R. Cooper of Princeton. Cooper was transported to Caldwell Medical Center ER and later flown to Vanderbilt in Nashville by Air Evac. Police say his condition is unknown at this time.

Chief King says police are looking for a suspect in the case identified as 20-year-old Hector Miguel Pena of Princeton. A warrant for first degree assault has been issued for Pena. He is considered armed and dangerous. Police say do not approach Pena, but contact the Princeton Police Department at 270-365-2041 or 270-365-4657 or call 911.

Police say the shooting appears to have been an isolated incident that was the result of an earlier confrontation. They say this is an isolated incident and do not think the community is in danger. Police say more details will be released by the police department when they become available.
