A local road impacted by recent flood damage is open to traffic once again after months of repairs were completed.

Officials with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet announced that Brown Road reopened to motorists on Wednesday.

Brown Road closed in September due to ground slides along about two and a half miles of the road. Officials said these slides occur when flood waters and other weather erode the ground beneath the road, causing it to “slide” out from under the road. Officials said this area was heavily flooded twice earlier this year.
