A high-speed pursuit in Webster County last week led to the arrest of a Dawson Springs man on multiple charges.
According to the Webster County Sheriff’s Office, when a deputy attempted to make a traffic stop on a vehicle for speeding on US 41A South between Providence and Dixon on Friday, the driver, later identified as Austin Pool, failed to stop and continued northbound at a high rate of speed. Authorities said the vehicle slowed down as it entered the city limits of Dixon, but continued to flee until Pool pulled into a residential driveway in the 3900 block of US 41A North and stopped, where he was taken into custody without incident.
During a search of Pool, deputies said they found a suspected meth pipe in his pocket, along with a quantity of suspected meth during a search of the vehicle. They said he also showed signs of impairment but refused to comply with field sobriety tests.
Pool was charged with speeding 25 mph over the limit, first-degree fleeing or evading police, reckless driving, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of a controlled substance, second offense, first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine, second offense, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was lodged in the Webster County Jail.
