A Providence man faces charges in connection with several incidents of theft at a Princeton store.

Assistant Princeton Police Chief Shane Allison reports that detectives arrested 45-year-old Brian Conrad shortly before 1:00 p.m. Tuesday on a Caldwell County warrant for second-degree unlawful transaction with a minor and shoplifting over $1,000.

According to Allison, the charges are the result of an investigation into eight separate incidents between July 17 and September 5, 2025, in which Conrad and a 16-year-old juvenile entered Walmart and left with merchandise after paying less than its actual value. He says detectives determined that, on each occasion, the self-checkout was used and bar codes for more expensive items were swapped with those of lower-priced merchandise. The total amount of merchandise reportedly taken during this period was approximately $1,470.

Conrad was booked into the Caldwell County Jail, while police say the teenager was issued a citation for complicity to shoplifting over $1,000.
