The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources will hold a public auction of surplus property and confiscated hunting and fishing equipment on Monday, October 6 at its Frankfort headquarters.
Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. (ET), with the auction starting at 9:30 a.m. (ET). The sale will take place outdoors, rain or shine, at 1 Sportsman’s Lane.
A full list of items is available on the department’s Surplus and Confiscated Items Auction webpage. All items are sold as-is and cannot be inspected beforehand. By law, only qualified Kentucky residents may bid on confiscated equipment, and some purchases may require a background check.
Accepted payment options include cash, check, certified check, and credit or debit cards. Purchases will include a buyer’s premium, and card payments will carry a surcharge.
Checks over $5,000 must be guaranteed by a bank letter.
Surplus property includes equipment and materials no longer used by the agency. Confiscated items are obtained through court orders tied to fish and wildlife law violations. Auction proceeds go into the state’s game and fish fund, which supports conservation and recreation programs across Kentucky.
Parking will be limited to designated areas on campus. Game Farm Road, west of the upper and lower sportsman’s lakes, will be restricted to residential traffic only. Portable restrooms will be available.
