From the fields to the stage, country music and agriculture share a story of hard work and community—a powerful theme for this year’s benefit show to help Pennyroyal Hospice.
On Saturday night, November 1st, Pennyroyal Hospice will take over Valor Hall in Oak Grove.
Kentucky Proud spokesman and rising country artist Alex Miller will be the headline performer for the show. Miller told Your News Edge his career has taken off since appearing on American Idol in 2021.
Miller has since seen success with a few singles on country radio and is one of the most-played country indie artists. Singles like “Puttin’ Up Hay” and “The Byrd” have garnered hundreds of thousands of streams. The latter of which is a collaboration with Tracy Byrd, who had mainstream success in the 1990s and 2000s.
The song, “The Byrd,” would be written a year later with help from Jerry Salley.
Opening for Miller, Nashville country music promoter Bill Wence. He will perform songs that have made his career successful and share stories about working with country legends like Bobby Bare, Tom T. Hall, Wanda Jackson, Cristy Lane, and Slim Whitman.
Pennyroyal Hospice Director Kelly Martin is excited about the show and the awareness it will raise for the organization that serves five western Kentucky counties.
Martin added that their ultimate goal is to provide dignity in your loved one’s final moments on Earth.
The show will again be held on Saturday, November 1st, at Valor Hall in Oak Grove. Doors will open at 5:00 PM, Wence will perform beginning at 6:00 PM, and Miller will hit the stage at 7:00 PM.
Tickets are $20 if purchased in advance at PennyroyalHospice.com or by visiting Pennyroyal Hospice in Hopkinsville or WKDZ in Cadiz. Tickets will be available at the door, but will cost $25 each.
