A Hopkins County grand jury has indicted a Hopkinsville woman on multiple charges, including wanton endangerment, after leading law enforcement on a pursuit last month.

Peri Brown of Hopkinsville was indicted on several violations, along with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or other intoxicants, open alcohol container in a vehicle, second-degree criminal mischief, second-degree disorderly conduct, first-degree fleeing or evading police, and three counts of first-degree wanton endangerment.

The charges are from August when Madisonville Police attempted to make a traffic stop on a vehicle near Madison Square for no brake or taillights. Police reported that Brown sped onto Interstate 169, ignored work zone signs, made unsafe lane changes, and crossed into oncoming traffic without headlights, forcing several vehicles to swerve into another lane.

Police said they stopped the vehicle by boxing it in, but as officers exited their cars, Brown reversed into a cruiser, causing damage and narrowly missing officers.

According to officers, Brown showed signs of intoxication and had open alcohol containers within reach inside the vehicle. They also reported she had two small children in the back seat, with one car seat unsecured and a child partially hanging out of a booster seat.

Brown was arrested and lodged in the Hopkins County Jail.
