A Madisonville man is facing charges after police say he left his six-month-old baby home alone on Saturday.

Madisonville Police say they were called to a Hopewell Street home Saturday morning after receiving a report that a small infant had been left alone. Officers were unable to reach anyone inside, but while they were on scene, they said 31-year-old Juan Pedro-Lucas pulled into the driveway.

According to police, their investigation revealed that Pedro-Lucas’s driver’s license was suspended. Officers said Pedro-Lucas admitted that he left his six-month-old child alone at home while he drove his wife to work, because the baby was sleeping at the time. When officers entered the house to check on the infant, they reportedly found the child awake.

Police said they contacted the Department of Child-Based Services, which advised that the children could remain in the care of their mother and other family members, with a plan to be put in place.

Pedro-Lucas was taken into custody and charged with driving on a suspended license and second-degree wanton endangerment. He was booked into the Hopkins County Jail.
