City of Madisonville officials have announced that “Madisonville Salutes,” a day-long celebration honoring military service members and their families, will take place at Madisonville City Park on Saturday, September 13.

Festivities will run from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., offering activities, entertainment, and plenty of community spirit.

City officials also shared their pride in hosting America’s Freedom Tribute, a deeply moving exhibit that honors the sacrifices of American service members from the Vietnam War and beyond. This traveling tribute features a three-quarter scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial from Washington, D.C., inscribed with the names of more than 58,000 fallen heroes. The exhibit also includes the Cost of Freedom Tribute, recognizing service members from other major wars and conflicts, including World War I, World War II, Korea, Desert Storm, Somalia, September 11, Iraq, and Afghanistan.

In a written statement, Madisonville Mayor Kevin Cotton expressed the importance of hosting such a significant memorial in the community, stating that the America’s Freedom Tribute is more than a display–it’s a solemn reminder of the courage, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication of our nation’s heroes. He said bringing this exhibit to Madisonville gives the community a place to reflect, honor, and say ‘thank you’ to those who gave everything for the freedoms we enjoy.

Additionally, city officials said the Traveling WWII Memorial will be on display, which consists of the Wall of Stars, also known as the Wall of Freedom, the Atlantic & Pacific Pavilions, 56 Pillars, and stands with oak and wheat wreaths. It also has a granite slab with President Roosevelt’s quote, as well as General MacArthur’s quote spanning three granite slabs.

Along with the exhibits, Saturday is packed with activities including live music and vendors, a car show, booths and displays, kids activities, disc golf tournament, baseball tournament, golf scramble, and pickleball tournament.

Everyone is invited to come out and celebrate our military service members and enjoy the tournaments and vendors. Admission is free.
