A Madisonville woman was arrested after an investigation into an altercation and stabbing over the weekend.
According to Madisonville Police, 33-year-old Ashley Poindexter was taken into custody after reportedly stabbing a man in the arm with a butcher knife that had been hidden in a grill in the backyard. Police said the incident occurred during a verbal argument on West Lake Street around 11:00 Saturday night. Officers also reported that two children were inside the home at the time of the altercation.
Police said the man was treated at the scene for a deep cut to his arm by EMS, but refused any additional medical care.
Poindexter was charged with 2nd degree domestic violence assault and lodged in the Hopkins County Jail.
