Hopkins County Grand Jury Issues Indictments for Sex-Related Crimes

A Hopkins County Grand Jury has handed down multiple indictments from its August session involving charges of rape, sexual abuse, and child abuse, following investigations by local authorities.

Separate superseding indictments were returned on Dustin Ausborn and Sierra Ausborn, both of Madisonville. Each is facing five counts of first-degree criminal abuse of a child under 12 for alleged incidents between January 2024 and July 2024. The Madisonville Police Department conducted the investigation.

The couple was previously indicted by the Hopkins County Grand Jury in October 2024 on offenses that reportedly occurred between April 2024 and July 2024. In October, Dustin Ausborn was officially charged with rape of a minor under 12, sodomy, sexual abuse of a minor under 12, and incest. Sierra Ausborn faces charges of complicity to rape of a minor under 12, complicity to sodomy, and complicity to incest involving a minor under 12.

A grand jury has indicted Preston Darnell of Madisonville on charges of first-degree sexual abuse involving a child under the age of 12, as well as distribution of obscene material to a minor from May. The Madisonville Police Department conducted the investigation.

Jason Thompson, of Madisonville, was indicted on two counts of incest and two counts of first-degree sodomy involving a child under 12. According to the indictment, the offenses occurred between May 2021 and May 2022, and again between March 2025 and June 7, 2025. The Madisonville Police Department led the investigation.

Cheyenne Thompson, of Dawson Springs, was indicted on a charge of first-degree criminal abuse involving a child under 12 years old. The alleged incident occurred in June, and the case was investigated by the Kentucky State Police.
